Wriggles and Giggles day Nursery is based in Old Cwmbran and we are currently looking to recruit a nursery cook due to an opening becoming available.
You must be in possession of a current food and hygiene certificate level 2 and ideally have previous experience as a cook but training can be given to the right candidate if needed.
We have a healthy eating policy at the nursery. All meals are nutritious and are prepared daily, ensuring that they avoid large quantities of fat, sugar, salt, additives preservatives and colourings. Menus are modified regularly to ensure the best meal healthy options are available.
We do not store or reheat food and weekly menus are planned in advance.
We take advice from dieticians and follow the Food and Health guidelines for Early Years and Childcare Settings issued by the Welsh Government.
All diets are catered for eg vegetarian, dairy intolerance, coeliac etc.
Children have a selection of fresh fruit and or vegetables in the morning and are encouraged to drink milk or water. Water is always available to the children. We provide full fat milk for children who are under two years and semi skimmed for children over two years.
Duties will be preparing healthy & nutritional food for the children form our menu. We are open to new ideas from the successful applicant with future menu planning.
You will also be required to carry out the following tasks.
· Food Preperation following H&S guidelines
· Maintaining stock levels & ordering food from suppliers
· Stock rotation
· Keeping the kitchen, cooker, utensils and crockery clean & tidy
· Adhering to food safety handling & storage practices
· Complete paperwork with Fridge temperatures etc for any H&S visits
· Any additional ad hoc duties as requested
Hours of work are between 09:00-14:30 Monday to Friday.
Salary meets NMW/Living wage
Position is permanent.
Any candidate successful for the position will have a DBS check carried out and will have to pay 50% towards the cost of the check .
