Job description

Early Years Practitioner / Key PersonContract: Part Time Hours : Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday 12.30pm/4.000pm qualification: Level 2 or above

Vacancy is initially for a contract until July 2019, but may possibly be extended dependent upon the requirement of the setting.

We are looking for an experienced Early Years Practitioner (Level 2 or above), with a gentle nurturing disposition, and a passion for child led and outdoor learning, to join our hard working and dedicated team. An Enhanced DBS certificate is essential, however, this can be arranged by the setting but will incur a fee at the applicants own expense.

The hours will Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. 12.30pm to 4.00

Term time

Our setting practice is inspired by Reggio Emilia, and we run Forest School sessions, so a desire to work with children within this approach to learning is essential. The successful applicant must be dedicated to supporting children’s learning through the child’s own fascinations and enquiries, whilst supporting them to evaluate their own risks.

The applicant must be prepared to fully commit themselves to their role as the child’s Key Person, getting to know the child well, and working alongside them in their learning journey, supporting them both academically and emotionally, to ensure positive well-being, high self-esteem and independence.

Training and support will be given to the successful applicant to further enhance their skills and own professional development.

The Pre-school is a pack away setting, so the applicant must be prepared to ‘set up’ and ‘pack away’ resources. This involves being creative with resources and preparing exciting propositions and snug areas which will inspire and generate ‘wonder’ for the child.

Essential for the post: Level 2 or above Early Years qualification, 2 years past experience in an Early Years setting, Enhanced DBS (can be arranged by setting), Safeguarding training (can be arranged by setting). Passion for outdoor and child led learning.

Desirable for the post:

First Aid, Knowledge and practice of Reggio Emilia principles, Experience of Forest School.
