POST: Childcare Room Leader
SALARY: £8.50 PH
HOURS OF WORK: Mon - Wed
Monday (12-5) Tuesday 8:45-5:30 Wed 8:45 - 5:30
RESPONSIBLE TO: Project Management/CEO
The childcare team leader will work within the charity to support children aged 1-14 with disabilities or additional needs all year round that is a lottery funded project until May 2018.
To work as part of a team setting up and leading our community support centre floor while caring for groups children whose parents/carers need a short break or the child is home schooled and needs support, play session or Stay & Play sessions, in line with OFSTED requirements.
Demonstrate warmth and respect for children and encourage their interests by giving them opportunities to develop through social, physical and educational play.
To implement a daily routine in the room.
To work together as a team supporting each other for the benefit of the children.
Liaise with Parent’s and Carer’s sharing information about their child’s development.
Essential Criteria Qualifications and Experience
NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education and First Aid in Paedatrics
2 years experience in a childcare facility
Experience of working with children with special needs or complex health needs
Experience of staff management Knowledge and Understanding
Knowledge of child development
Knowledge of child protection issues and procedures
An understanding of the importance of play and the importance of parental involvement Abilities Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, Able to plan each week for sessions
Excellent interpersonal skills
The post holder must be friendly, caring, helpful and flexible.
Must also possess good listening skills, have patience, understanding and a non-judgmental attitude.
Planning Sessions to the Early Years Common Inspection Framework, Display boards & activity planning
- Able to work under pressure
- Passionate about working for a charity & the needs of the children
- Working with the community & supporting the whole family that access the support centre
The post also supports children on trips and outings & Family sessions based on weekends
The successful applicant would need to attend an interview and provide a presentation around children with disabilities
